How to Workout

Many websites talk about workouts and different workout routines but there are few articles that actually explain How to Workout. Thankfully it's pretty simple. First we'll start off with the mistakes and then we'll list the bonified tips of the weight room.

It's going to be okay you just avoid....

The 4 Biggest Mistakes People Make Working Out:

  1. Not warming and stretching. If you don't warm up and stretch the likelihood that you will injure yourself while working out is increased exponentially. Warming up by cycling is a great way to get your body ready for a workout, the best way to warm up is by swimming, because swimming test alll of the muscles in the body and not just the legs. There are many stretches that I don't have time to list right now but just make sure you catch your whole body and stretch AFTER  your workout. How to Stretch.
  2. Leaving weights around. I hate it! when people leave weights around in the weight room. No one is your maid and people are in as much of a rush to get out of there as you are. When your done with a weight set put it back up or set it to it's minimum setting. No one wants to go putting back your weights.
  3. Focusing too much on the upper body. Sure the upper body looks glamorous but it is not worth 90% of your workout. Do AT LEAST 50% upper body and 50% lower body exercises in the gym. Your workouts should be full body workouts, unless your doing a split program, which I don't really approve of.
  4. Not pushing yourself. Yes working out can be dangerous but if you don't push yourself you won't improve. Make sure you change the workouts, a week one of workouts and a week two, so that you introduce new ways for your muscles to move and be challenged. If you truly find yourself in afraid of the heavy weights get a spotter. This person will provide psychological motivation and a sense of security just in case something goes wrong; also don't be afraid to ask someone to be a spotter in a gym. Most people are more than willing to help you out completing your workouts.

The 5 Best Tips for Working Out:

  1. Do a full body workout. Full body workouts are great for two reasons: they push you when you don't think you have anymore energy and its a very efficient way of working out. Lets say your doing a split of leg day and upper body day. If you are tired from the previous day and have to come to the gym again for your next workout two days in a row the workout won't go as well. The best method of working out is spacing day days that one works out evenly, therefore giving your body time to recover.
  2. Train strength and cardio evenly. I see many people who just stick with cardio exercises then many experienced people who just stick to strength exercises, this isn't right. Human beings were made with a large amount of cardiovascular potential so by sticking to just strength exercises a person is wasting the greatest physical asset of being a human, endurance, but by just sticking to cardio exercises a person will lose the great benefits of strength training. Strength training not only strengthens your muscles but also your bones this helps especially in old age where you begin to lose muscle and the bones start becoming fragile, plus once you gain strength it's something that doesn't really go away.
  3. Get a workout partner. A workout partner doesn't only come in as a good spotter but is also a partner that can motivate you to come to the gym and make the time spent working out there an enjoyable one.
  4. Go to a gym. Attempting to setup a home gym is fine but unless your Bill Gates your probably not going to be able to have the room or the money to create a fully fleshed out home gym. The gym is not only incredibly less expensive than a home gym but it is an oppurtunity to socialize with other people and get help with exercises, such as tips and advice.
